About this retreat (mind-body-spirit approach)
Why silence?
In this busy world we live in, it is useful to find times to drop into silence, solitude, and reflection. Without chit-chat, taking care of others, or electronics, there’s space to drop into yourself to acknowledge and process your undiscovered thoughts and feelings.
Silent retreats have been attracting meditators for thousands of years, and recent research confirms the benefits of mindfulness and meditation — reduced stress levels, lower blood pressure and improved sleep.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment, through a gentle, nurturing lens. Focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.
Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) combines the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion to enhance our capacity for emotional wellbeing. Mindfulness is the first step—turning with loving awareness toward difficult experience (thoughts, emotions, and sensations).
What type of yoga?
Kripalu yoga teaches us to live our practice on and off the mat. Rather than striving for the perfect pose, we will use gentle yoga postures to learn to focus within and access the body’s wisdom.
